Perth Twins Find Joy Serving Others as Full-time Missionaries
Perth twins Emily and Jayden Tang, have been serving as full-time missionaries with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the last few months.
Sister Tang (as Emily is known as a missionary), is serving in the New Zealand Wellington Mission which includes the lower half of the country’s North Island, and the South Island.
Elder Tang (as Jayden is known as a missionary), is serving in the Australia Sydney Mission. He is teaching people interested in learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ, in English and in Mandarin.
Elder Tang recently wrote the following message to family and friends: “As we continually strive to overcome our challenges, God will bless us with the gifts of faith to be healed and of the working of miracles. He will do for us what we are not capable of doing for ourselves.”
He added: “Obedience brings happiness, as disciples of Jesus Christ we all should be obedient to God’s commandments. Even the Saviour said, ‘not my will but thine be done.’ Sometimes we may not understand why we need to do a specific thing, but we need to stay obedient with patience and faith.”
After a recent meeting with Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Sister Tang shared the following thoughts:
“Elder Soares talked to the missionaries on how important it is to plan and have goals. He referenced Moses 3:4-5, which highlights that even God plans and has goals. The scriptures talk about how God created things spiritually before they were naturally put on the earth. God planned that.”
She continued: “Elder Soares also invited the missionaries to ‘seek earnestly to learn and improve our Christlike attributes,’ specifically for us, the attribute of obedience.”
