Flexible Service Opportunities for Senior Single Missionaries
Senior missionary opportunities for couples and individuals
Single men ages 40 and older now allowed to serve full-time missions; roles for single women 40 and older increased. Senior Single Missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently expanded its guidelines for senior missionaries, allowing single men over the age of 40 to serve as missionaries, in addition to the opportunities already available for single women and couples.
This change reflects the Church’s ongoing commitment to broaden missionary service options and help members of various backgrounds participate in meaningful service roles.
With increasing flexibility in assignment locations and service types, senior missionaries can now serve from home or travel to fulfill various roles. Opportunities range from assisting in temples and family history centers to providing humanitarian aid, supporting self-reliance initiatives, and working in Church administrative offices.
This expansion addresses both the skills and preferences of senior missionaries, allowing them to serve in roles aligned with their expertise and circumstances.

Single men over 40 who wish to serve a mission can choose from various assignments, including working in administrative, support, or teaching roles, as well as serving in local communities.
These missionaries, like other senior missionaries, can serve for durations ranging from 6 to 23 months and are able to express preferences regarding where they might serve and the types of assignments that best match their skills and interests.
Additionally, the Church’s resources help ensure senior missionaries are well-supported during their service, as they manage their own housing and personal expenses and can engage in service that aligns with their individual capabilities and availability.
