Provo Temple Windows Smashed, Suspect Arrested

Multiple windows of the Provo Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were broken Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 12, in an act of vandalism by a hammer-wielding man.

A 30-year-old man has been arrested on a third-degree felony for property damage after smashing the windows of the Provo Utah Temple with a hammer.

Police received a report shortly after 3:30 p.m. on December 12 that the destruction had occurred. By using security footage, the police were able to identify the vehicle of Weston Huff which led to his arrest later that day.

The extent of the damage and the details of the repair are unknown at this time. The Provo Utah Temple is currently closed for cleaning.

It will close in February 2024 and undergo major renovations. A rendering of the new design is available to view below.
