The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints donated high-tech computer equipment to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to improve operational efficiency for travelers and missionaries across Nigerian airports. The formal handover ceremony was held at the NIS headquarters in Abuja on March 12, 2026, with Elder Isaac K. Morrison of the Seventy, Second Counselor in the Africa West Area Presidency, representing the Church.

The donation included 20 HP Envy All-in-One computers, 20 ARH passport readers, 20 Logitech webcams, two HP LaserJet printers, and five HP ZBook laptop computers. These systems are designed to enhance critical platforms at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, including MIDAS, E-Gate, e-Visa Clearance, and e-Landing/Exit Card, facilitating faster processing for travelers, including missionaries entering the country.

Elder Morrison said the donation reflects the Church’s ongoing commitment to service, noting that the gesture aligns with its belief that the greatest service is rendered to God, humanity, and the nation. “We serve God, and we understand the virtues of service to the nation and humanity. We do not do this to be recognized or praised; we do this because the scriptures tell us to do so,” he said. He added, “We are co-builders of greater societies, and we understand the strategic services of the Nigeria Immigration Service. We feel greatly honored to have the privilege of donating these materials.”

The Deputy Comptroller General in charge of the Visa and Residency Directorate, DCG F. U. Nwanneka, accepted the donation on behalf of the Comptroller General, Kemi Nanna Nandap. She expressed appreciation for the Church’s support, emphasizing that the equipment would be used effectively to improve service delivery. “On behalf of the Comptroller General and the staff of the Nigeria Immigration Service, we want to convey our profound gratitude to your organization for this gesture. We will ensure their optimum use in boosting our service delivery,” she said.

The donation underscores the Church’s long-standing collaboration with strategic institutions in Nigeria, while reaffirming its support for government operations. The Church noted that missionaries, as well as all travelers to Nigeria, must comply with the laws of the land, consistent with the Twelfth Article of Faith: “We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.”

This contribution represents another step in the ongoing partnership between the Church and the Nigerian government, strengthening services for both citizens and visitors while supporting the nation’s infrastructure and public service initiatives.
