A devastating road accident in the Kingdom of Lesotho has left a church community reeling after a minibus carrying young women and local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints leaders was involved in a deadly multi-vehicle collision en route to a youth activity. Several lives were lost, and others sustained serious injuries.

In a heartfelt statement, the Africa South Area Presidency of the Church expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with those affected: “Our hearts are heavy, and we are saddened by this tragic accident,” read the message from Elder Carlos A. Godoy, Elder Denelson Silva, and Elder Vaiangina Sikahema. “We extend our love and heartfelt condolences to the many families and friends who have been impacted by this tragedy. We mourn the lives of those who have passed, and we pray that we may all feel the love, peace and healing power of the Lord Jesus Christ, during this difficult time.”

Tragic Accident Involving Church Members in the Kingdom of Lesotho

Church leaders have mobilized rapidly in the wake of the tragedy, providing emotional and spiritual support to survivors and grieving families. Efforts are also underway to coordinate medical care and logistical assistance for those injured.

Witnesses at the scene described a chaotic and harrowing moment as emergency services rushed to extricate passengers from the wreckage. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but local authorities confirmed that multiple vehicles were involved.
