Sister Tracy Y. Browning, second counselor in the Primary general presidency, spoke during the Saturday morning session of October 2022 general conference. In her first general conference address, she invited others to see their lives through the Savior Jesus Christ in order to see more of Him in their lives. She is the first Black woman in the history of the Church to speak in general conference. The following is a summary of what she said.

Sister Browning’s conference talk summary

As she depends on glasses to see and understand the world around her, Sister Browning said many divinely appointed tools help people improve their spiritual vision. Scriptures, the words of the prophets, prayer, temple attendance and the sacrament can bring Christ’s light “in a world that may be cloudy.”

Simple Is the Doctrine of Jesus Christ by President Henry B. Eyring

The Savior can be a compass and pilot while steering through life. “Jesus Christ is both the purpose of our focus and the intent of our destination.”

The Old Testament teaches of God’s ancient people being invited to see their lives through Him in order to see more of Him in their lives.

After she joined the Church, people were curious about why she did the things she did. These questions helped her “put on a pair of spiritual lenses” to clarify, focus and solidify her testimony.

“Through rigorous effort to look to and for Jesus Christ in my every thought and deed, my eyes were enlightened, and my understanding quickened to recognize that Jesus Christ was calling for me to ‘come unto Him.’”

As people allow Him to direct them, they will see that “all things denote there is a God” and where they look for Him they will find Him.

Quotes from Sister Browning’s conference talk

To help us to remain fixed and heading in the right direction, the Savior invites us to see our lives through Him, in order to see more of Him in our lives.

When we bring our offering to the Savior, we are being invited to see more of Jesus Christ in our lives, as we humbly submit our will to Him in recognition and understanding of His perfect submission to the will of the Father.

[A]s we allow Him to direct us in all things, we receive testimony that ‘all things denote there is a God,’ because where we look for Him we will find Him — each and every day.
