Elder Koliniasi Latu is serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tonga. Earlier this month, the young Hawaiian’s hometown of Lahaina was destroyed by the wildfires that decimated the island of Maui.

Elder Latu’s uncle passed away in the disaster, and family homes were leveled by the wind-blown blaze.
