President Soulier, a devoted leader and member of the Church, began his role as mission president of the France Lyon Mission in June 2024. A native of the Salt Lake East Mill Creek Stake in Utah, he leaves behind his wife and mission companion, Sister Jennifer H. Soulier, as well as their four grown children.

In a statement, Church spokesperson Sam Penrod shared heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Church: “We express our love and deepest sympathies to President Soulier’s family and all the missionaries in the France Lyon Mission during this difficult time. We pray all will feel the Savior’s love as they honor and remember President Soulier’s faithful service.”

To provide support during this challenging time, Elder James W. McConkie III, second counselor in the Europe Central Area Presidency, and his wife, Laurel, are traveling to Lyon. They will assist Sister Soulier and oversee the mission’s leadership temporarily.

President Soulier is remembered for his steadfast dedication and commitment to his faith and missionary efforts. His influence reached far beyond the France Lyon Mission, touching the lives of missionaries and members alike. As the Church community grieves this unexpected loss, many are united in honoring his life, service, and the legacy he leaves behind.

The global Church family joins together in prayer and remembrance, lifting up the Soulier family and the missionaries in Lyon during this time of mourning.

President Soulier’s passing is undoubtedly a profound loss for his family, the missionaries he served with, and the Church community as a whole. His commitment to his calling, even in the brief time he served as a mission president, demonstrates his devotion to his faith and to the Savior.

The Church’s response, including sending Elder McConkie and his wife to provide support, highlights the love and unity that define such moments of loss. As the global Church mourns, President Soulier’s legacy will surely be remembered as one of faith, dedication, and service. May his family and all those affected find peace and comfort during this time.
