Elder Larry S. Kacher, 1st Counselor in the Africa West Area Presidency, and other representatives of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints met with His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The purpose of the meeting with the Asantehene was to strengthen the relationship of the Church with His Royal Majesty, to address the Church’s commitment in assisting with the digitization of records and archives, and to share the news of an upcoming temple to be built in Kumasi.

Elder Kacher shared: “We are so grateful to be here today in the presence of His Majesty. It is so important for us to preserve records. We would like to do that for the Manhiya and Ashanti Kingdom.”

His Royal Majesty stated, “So many of these records are needed. If I lose them, I lose my history. If we have our history, we have our identity.” Africa West Area visit with His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II

Elder Kacher said another “purpose for our visit is to make known the construction for a very beautiful edifice that will occur here, the Kumasi Ghana temple. We make this promise: the construction of the temple will be a great blessing to Kumasi. It will bless the lives of many, many people.”

His Majesty remarked, “Thank you for the temple you are about to build. I know that when we have that…it helps my people in terms of believing in our God, Jesus Christ.”

Elder Kacher thanked His Majesty for his support and continued desire to work together with the Church and promised His Majesty that the Lord looked favorably upon their meeting together that day.
